Civil War Scout Sunday
Our scout programs offer unique, hands-on experiences for your troop. Whether your group wants to imagine life in the 19th Century in our Historic Village or explore many discoveries in our archives – our Museum and PInecrest Village has much to offer! Girl Scout and Scouting America troops of all ages are welcome.
Space is limited, pre-registration is required, and cost varies by program.
Please note the museum does not provide badges.

On Demand Programs
Group Educational Overnight Experience
When the sun goes down, it’s time to explore. Experience the story of our past with immersive hands-on programming, and engaging local history—all within a unique theme.
Bring a camping tent and join us for a truly unique experience at MCHS! Camp sites are located across from the Meeme House, in the arena.
Level: All ages
Program Length: Groups can arrive any time after 5:00 pm. Programming begins at 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The overnight experience concludes at 8:00 am the following day.

Boy Scouts - Metalworking Merit Badge
Learn the history of blacksmithing and safety in the shop - and then create 2 projects to take home - a “steak flipper” and a spatula, including rivet work.
Please contact your Scout Leader and/or Merit Badge counselor about other requirements. Additionally, it is up to your Merit Badge Counselor to determine if this activity fills the requirement for the Blacksmithing portion.
Level:
Program Length: 3 hours, Typically 11:00-2:00
Group Rate (6 Youth plus 3 adults): $90; $20 for additional youth or adults; free for scout leaders.
Cub Scouts - Tigers: Collections and Hobbies Badge Tiger Scouts can complete requirement 3a for the Collections and Hobbies badge by visiting the museum and exploring our exhibits.

Group Rate (12 Youth plus 3 adults): $90; $6 for additional youth or adults; free for scout leaders.
Playing the Past (Junior Badge: Playing the Past)
Learn about the young girl’s life in the 19th Century – while meeting the requirements of the Junior “Playing the Past” badge. Includes a lesson in 19th-century fashion, a craft, a hands-on historic chore, a chance to play 19th-century games, and a loaned 19-century costume! (Costumes not available for adults.)
Level: Junior
Program Length: 2 hours

Social Butterfly
Many early residents enjoyed entertaining guests. Attend the 1870 grand ball of the Meeme Library Association where you will practice using good manners, etiquette (including how to set a table), and practice conversation and letter writing skills. When you know the proper way to behave in a situation (like the 1870s grand ball!) you will also feel more confident and at ease.
Level: Junior
Program Length: 2 hours

Textile Artist (Senior Girl Scout Badge)
When you see all the colors and textures of fabrics and yarns, do you dream up a million things to do with them? Get ready to turn those visions into reality as you meet with artists, learn about the world of textile arts, and make a project in the craft that most inspires you to pick up your needles (or loom).
Level: Senior
Program Length: 2 hours
